This 1,800m² new Headquarter and Training facilities building will bring together currently separate departments (Headquarter, Fundraising, Emergency Operations and Training), currently split over 2 sites about 15mins commute apart, into a new, flexible and collaborative environment. This new facility will provide a northern focal point on arrival at the new Alconbury Weald development by Urban and Civic, and will form part of a new community that interconnects with the ever-growing Huntingdon area. The £7m project will provide a ‘home’ for a growing and highly important emergency service to the East Anglian region, reflecting its direct and future requirements.

The building includes a flexible visitor centre to cater for a variety of events, training facilities and accommodation to help expand on its highly rated teaching courses. A large open plan HQ and Fundraising space allows for easier collaboration and future flexibility. The Operations area and hangar will reflect the current needs of a fast response service. The steel frame building features lightweight cladding and curtainwalling to the external envelope, with materials being selected based on either recycled content or recyclability. The project is programmed to start on site in February 2022 and due for completion by October 2022.
