Kensington and Park Terrace, the student residential project designed by mosescameronwilliams architects for Newcastle University, has been commended at last night’s Lord Mayor’s Design Awards. The project also came runners up in the People’s Choice awards. The award’s aim is to encourage, promote and publicise the best in architecture and environmental design, and to help improve the built environment. Awards are given to outstanding projects in the fields of architecture, planning, environmental, urban and landscape design.
Paul Bandeen, Head of Residences at Newcastle University was at the award ceremony: ‘It was really pleasing that the new development at Kensington & Park Terrace was recognised at the recent Lord Mayor’s Design Award and on behalf of all of those involved it was with a real sense of pride that I was able to collect a commendation from the judges for the refurbishment of Kensington Terrace. The accommodation has received tremendous feedback from students and is now our benchmark for all future projects. MCW were a great team to work with and really understood our requirements so thanks!’
