This flexible facility for teaching, learning and research will enable the co-location of a number of disparate groups (Health and Social Science, Sports Science, Computing and Bioscience) to share a more collaborative and efficient environment.
The project will require the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of new accommodation directly alongside facilities that will remain operational throughout. We have led the multi-stakeholder consultation dialogue as well as being the design team lead.
The proposed scheme represents a significant increase in scale over the current buildings on the site. A colonnade at street level leads to the main entrance which opens into a multivalent informal learning environment that connects to the other side of the town centre campus. This scheme forms part of a long term, campus- wide programme of redevelopment that we set out with the University in 2007.
