The design process has always been the most fascinating aspect of architecture for me. It is where the emotional dimension and technical solutions converge towards realising a unified vision. One of the greatest lessons I learned at university is the importance of integrating theory with technical expertise, and merging philosophy with science to expand our cultural horizons.

Architecture can be compared to an arch built with a timber frame system. Once the frame is removed, we realised that its role during construction was essential. Similarly, behind every building lies a journey of research, theoretical thinking and scientific application.

I moved to the UK from Italy during my final year of university to work on my master’s thesis, which focused on urban regeneration. Also during my career, I have developed a strong interest in sustainability. I am eager to learn and contribute as an architect in our society, working towards net-zero.

Always design a thing by considering its next larger context – a chair in a room, a room in a house, a house in an environment, an environment in a city plan. — Eliel Saarinen
