Designing spaces which engage with their surrounding landscape is an aspect of practicing architecture which I always look forward to. As every building has its own unique set of constraints and opportunities, the design process is never the same on two projects. The micro-scale of detailing materials is an equally interesting part of the process for me and when materials can be brought together to form a building which is greater than the sum of their parts, the result is always rewarding.

My architectural journey started in Glasgow and Edinburgh, both cities with a rich industrial history to draw inspiration from. As a student, I would spend a lot of my free time recording places in a sketchbook and photographing historic buildings around the city. For me, recording experiences of different places remains one of my key sources of inspiration.
