31 Newnham Road

The project, designed by MCW Architects and led by developer Camprop, replaces the previous building with a high quality and carefully considered mixed use scheme in this highly sensitive setting.

Providing space for commercial activity at ground floor level, the new development creates an active and visible street frontage, improves the public realm and experience for pedestrians and passers-by as well as uplifts the character and feel of the lane alongside Newnham Mill. On the upper floors a cluster of apartments with excellent access provide great views across Mill pond.

Having worked closely with City Planning, Urban Design and Conservation Team, we believe that the project is a carefully considered proposal to create a well-mannered, energy efficient and contemporary new building on this important site. The building will make a positive contribution to the area, offering an open and active commercial aspect to the street along with sustainable and attractive places to live on two upper floors, all enjoying wonderful views across this unique part of the City.
