Learning Hub

The University of Sheffield

location | Sheffield   year | 2009   value | £7m   size | 1,970m2

The refurbishment and new extension to the Grade II listed Edwardian wing of the original Jessop Women’s Hospital is designed to regenerate this redundant facility as a new Learning Hub for the University of Sheffield. To provide a range of teaching and learning facilities for both staff and students, within the historic building, the £7m development is at the centre of the University campus.

The stone clad addition to the existing fabric provides much needed rationalisation of the circulation within the building and visually is a distinctive addition, clearly articulated both formally and materially. Planning consent was granted in 2009.
