The University of Sheffield’s mission is to ‘maintain the highest standards of excellence as a research-led institution of international standing’. The Development Framework we generated was a product of extensive consultation across the University and with the City. Providing a series of interconnected strategies over the short, medium and long term, the Framework has been the primary tool for planning change and investment across the city centre campus- the University have recently published an updated masterplan that continues much of our thinking
from 15 years ago.

Having implemented the initial phases (Information Commons, Jessop site, Arts Tower refurbishment) the University has achieved a significant improvement in how the campus is perceived and experienced – a vital factor for attracting staff and students in the increasingly competitive context of the Higher Education market-place.
