Hughenden Park Masterplan

Buckinghamshire New University

location | High Wycombe  year | 2006

A comprehensive study was completed for a new campus for the University at Hughenden Park on the edge of High Wycombe. The proposal was to dispose of the existing disparate university estate and relocate all existing accommodation, including student residences and spaces for learning and teaching, administrative support and leisure, on a consolidated and sustainable campus. Extensive consultation with all user and external stakeholder groups, including the local authority, ensured that ideas achieved consensus and support as part of a university-wide rationalisation process and that the campus was developed to integrate with the wider community.

The scheme was predicated on a land swap with a major food retailer and the non-completion of this deal led to the demise of the proposals.
