Car Park

University of Hertfordshire

location | Hatfield   year | 2009   size | 400 spaces

The Forum is part of the University of Hertfordshire’s £33 million development and is one of the UK’s largest, purpose-built student entertainment facilities. As part of the University wide initiative to promote access for students and provide better facilities for staff, the new multi-storey car park forms one part of this project and the University’s wider estate improvements.

While essentially utilitarian in nature, the car park has been carefully ‘dressed’ to provide an attractive and dynamic frontage to the new primary vehicle entrance onto the campus. The subtle back-lit polycarbonate and aluminium skin integrates University branding in addition to provide the necessary acoustic attenuation for neighbouring communities.

The University of Hertfordshire is ranked, by The Independent’s Complete University Guide league tables, as one of the most improved universities in the UK. We are the biggest investor in student facilities in the UK and the Forum shows our continued commitment to enhancing the student experience by providing the best facilities for our students. The Forum is unique among British Universities. All who have been involved in this fantastic development, the University, the Students’ Union, the architects, the contractors can be very proud of what has been achieved.
