Why Architecture
I was always told growing up to pursue a career doing something I would enjoy, however with such varied passions, interests, and hobbies, I struggled to settle on a plan. While deciding on which A-Levels to take I started to research fields that would combine my love of art and making things with the satisfying puzzle-solving side of maths and sciences. I soon fell into the prospectuses of Architecture schools up and down the country and was immediately drawn in by the huge breadth of topics to learn under this one discipline. With no architectural background, it could well have been risky to embark on the 7-year-long path to becoming an architect, not really knowing what I was signing up for. Fortunately, I’m still loving it, and I’m about to finish my final year of qualification.
What architecture
Throughout my studies so far, I have developed a huge passion for understanding and learning from designing for old buildings. My final-year Masters’ thesis helped me delve deeper into the fields of Continuity and Conservation, enabling me to evolve a personal method of thinking and working that I will take with me into my future architectural career.
Not architecture
When I’m not working I love to take a day-trip to somewhere new, exploring on long walks with as many pre-planned coffee / food / pub stops along the way. At home I love cooking, drawing, and cuddling up with a good book or film. Looking forward to my next challenge of renovating my own house – putting into practice the lessons learned every day in the office.
